Greg and I spoke to Gerd on Sunday night - he is well, although we woke him up after a wild party at his house and he was a bit sleepy. Greg opened the conversation with his newfound German but I'm afraid that it confused sleepy Gerd and we quickly retreated to a safer tongue. Gerd is well - he is dividing his time between Berlin and Bremen, home of the lovely Anna. Gerd has been doing well in his exams and is looking forward to his birthday on the 5th of November.

In other news, we are preparing for Paddy's bucks night, which promises to be a big one. Greg has been threatening Paddy with all kinds of mischevious plans that fall short of bodily injury but promise humiliation and degradation in abundance. I am really flattered that I'm allowed to go and am really looking forward to it.

I've been getting quite a few hits each day from people looking for video from the Melbourne Shuffle dance step. If you want to see a step-by-step guide (literally!), download this video. It's from xes, but I think he's been having bandwidth issues. I've got some links below to other resources. Remember: while talcum powder can make you slide around the floor (and it really looks like you're floating!), some venues get upset because it ruins the surface. Other people like to slip'n'slide on puddles from their water bottles. This isn't necessary: many outdoor doof parties use nothing but a compacted dirt dance floor and you still see plenty of shuffling, albeit more "stompy".
